ABOUT MACKENZIE DRIVE

Mackenzie Drive is a non-binary singer/songwriter and performer hailing from North Bay, Ontario. Mackenzie Drive’s music is Pop with undertones of Dance, Country, and Rock, with lyrics stemming from diary entries of lessons and experiences from their book of life. To Mackenzie, music is a therapeutic tool used to heal; and sharing their music is an opportunity to inspire others to see the beauty and courage in finding their inner superhero.

Born and raised in a small farming town, Mackenzie was brought up in a Catholic family and was an active member of the church choir. In their teen years, they became active in the Youth Ministry and toured Canada. This was the foundation for falling in love with being on stage, where they truly thrive. After years of disguising their identity, failed attempts to kick start their music career, and a train wreck of a relationship breakdown they’d had enough. Mackenzie decided living a “fake” life in the closet was no longer contributing to their destiny and chose to embark on the journey to becoming their authentic self.

After releasing their first single “One in a Million” in late 2018 Mackenzie gained momentum as an artist who pushed boundaries, speaks their mind, and takes risks while rocking outfits that can only come alive when you mix childhood dreams with adulthood realities. In 2019, Makenzie’s self-titled first album was released featuring the song “Phoenix”, a dance jam that speaks of rising from the ashes like the Phoenix that lives inside; plus, six other tracks. In the following years, Mackenzie released several indie music projects and continued to write new music.

Mackenzie strives to bring their imagination to life and put on a captivating live show full of awe, wonder, live vocals, and the 90’s Pop charm. Mackenzie has shared the stage with iconic Canadian artists such as Bif Naked, Ria Mae, and Tynomi Banks. In 2022 for North Bay Pride’s Concert on The Hill, after opening the show, Mackenzie took to the stage joining Ria Mae and Bif Naked to sing Ria’s hit song “Bend” for an audience-shocking finale.

Mackenzie is over the moon to be working with So Fierce Music and iconic world-renowned music producer Velvet Code on upcoming projects and wishes to dedicate these projects to their late father who passed away in August 2022 from cancer.
